2008....an election year. A lot of things can change in our industry. We have too.

We foresee a push towards economizing in 2008, with economic indicators showing some signs of a recession. Bernhard Ships and Associates, Inc. will offer "best value" to its clients with low overhead costs and very competitive fees. By no means do our low fees indicate compromised level of service. While "convergence" was one of the big buzz-words in the past, it is important as a consultant to offer a client the best service possible in the corresponding field of expertise. This is why consulting firms exist. Some consulting firms have rapidly acquired other technologies such as security, etc. and sold combined consultation services as an "all-in-one" shop. This does not always equate to the best value of service for clients, but merely simplifies the check writing process. Having the desired services under one roof in technologies that overlap does not ensure that a firm is an expert in all the fields they offer. We stick to what we do best.

Despite decline in residential property values, 2007 ended up being a big year for BSA in terms of residential buildings. Perhaps a sign of future times, we see many multi-occupancy buildings being constructed with ownership contracts in place. We will see if the trend continues for 2008. The residential market must address the trends of modern occupancy, including home theater entertainment centers and hard flooring throughout, which can result in some significant acoustical design challenges that are not necessarily addressed by building code acoustical requirements. BSA can help your project. The residential market also allowed BSA to diversify in terms of geographic locations with projects in New Orleans, LA; Leawood, KS; and Franklin, TN.

Another continuing trend for 2008 is Green Design. In an effort to save energy costs, and generate revenue for development, many projects are incorporating more efficient heating/cooling designs. While this may be good for operation budgets and greenhouse emissions, it can result in excessive noise and thus be more disruptive to the environment. We have a new logo to streamline our "look".

Please note that our NJ office has moved. We are still in Moorestown. See contact page for details.

Bernhard Shipps and Associates continue to provide quality services with increasing clientele. No matter the project, large or small, we are determined to offer comprehensive acoustical consultation at competitive prices, with principal-level involvement on any job. Please consider us for your acoustical needs.
