Bernhard Shipps and Associates, Inc. utilize state of the art testing
equipment for survey work. If we don't own it, we rent the best. Our equipment
includes a full array of sound level meters, microphones, portable calibrators,
digital recording devices (DAT), data loggers, portable multi-channel Fast
Fourier Transform (FFT) analyzers, accelerometers, portable sound sources, and
more. Any work requiring laboratory calibrated instrumentation is addressed by
ensuring all equipment is up to date and calibrated in NIST-traceable
facilities. Our equipment includes manufacturers such as: Brüel and Kjær,
Hewlett Packard, Sony, Teac, PCB, Wilcoxon, and others. EXPERIENCE Besides
having great equipment at our disposal, it is also very important to know how to
use it. Bernhard Shipps and Associates, Inc. consultants all come from
engineering testing backgrounds, on the forefront of instrumentation technology.
They know the limitations of equipment, and ensure that measured values
correspond to actual events or sources. This is very important. Despite the
advances in computer technology, human observation and command still are paramount
in ensuring data accuracy. If a tree falls in the middle of the forest
and no one is around to hear it, does it make a sound? A "dumb"
device such as a sound level meter won't necessarily know unless it is capable
and properly configured to capture the event. This is particularly true when
measuring vibration, at levels and frequencies outside the range of human
perception. Make sure your survey requirements
are properly addressed by utilizing our team of consultants.
